Consistently voted one of the best "mountain towns" for biking, you are never at a loss for epic singletrack in Durango, CO. Every year, Durango calls home to a huge list of bicycle events and festivals. If you didn't bring a bike, don't sweat it, there are several shops offering rentals, tours and maps!

Mountain Bike Trails In and Around Durango

Horse Gulch Trail
Level: Intermediate
Length: Depends on Route 4-8 Miles
Begin your adventure at 8th Avenue and 3rd street. There is a free parking lot there if you drive. The start of the trail is a four-wheel drive road but soon turns into open meadows. At the top of the road, you have a choice of going left or right. Turning left, the trail gets more difficult and goes up the ridge for some good steep climbs and a nice decent. On the other hand, going right will lead you into flower filled meadows where there are a network of fun easy trails.

Lime Creek Trail
Level: Intermediate
Length: Depends on Route 4-8 Miles
The old stage coach between purgatory and Silverton has been converted to the Lime Creek Trail. The trail starts 28 miles north of Durango at a parking lot located on the right just north of Cascade Village. The is an 11 mile long trail with some gradual climbs and fun descents. End this trail between Coal Bank and Molas Pass.

Hermosa Creek Trail
Level: Advanced
Length: 20 Miles
If you're looking for incredible single-track near Durango, go no further than the Hermosa Creek Trail. This trail leads from Purgatory to Hermosa and consists of technical sections, steep climbs and two river crossings. Be careful because waist-high river crossings can be dangerous in the spring when run-off is at its highest. The trail ends in Hermosa, about nine miles north of Durango.

Colorado Trail - Hoffheins Connection
Level: Advanced
Length: 20 Mile Loop
The infamous Colorado Trail ends in Durango, Colorado so many adventure out to get a taste of this exciting singletrack. Starting from Durango, head west on 25th Street, which becomes Junction Creek Road. After the paved section of the road ends, the Colorado Trail begins on the left side. There is a parking area near the trailhead. You will follow the singletrack along the creek, crossing over the bridge, until you reach Gudy’s Rest. Just 1/8 mile past Gudy’s Rest, take a left on the Hoffheins Connection trail. It’s all down hill to Lightner Creek Road. Follow Lightner Creek Road to Highway 160. Turn left, traveling east on Hwy 160 to get back to Durango.
